I was instantly hooked and eager to find out precisely how things would unfold. As luck would have it, this chapter was story-oriented, with effortless gameplay having a supporting role.

The Void Club franchise as a whole was never about complex and intricate or action-packed and fast-paced gameplay. It’s always been a series of visual novels with sprinkles of dating sims and mini-games every now and then. This is perhaps one of the best examples of such an approach where you get to make just a few highly impactful choices that tailor the outcome. Naturally, there’s always room for improvement, but that’s part of the journey. I’d much rather have a series that gets better with every new chapter than play one stunning game where everything goes downhill from that point forward. And with more than twenty installments so far, you can count on a lot of growth.

What I can safely say is that there have been massive improvements in the art department as of late. The people behind the game have really been pushing themselves. Or maybe it was the budget thing. Nevertheless, the animations received a complete overhaul and are now a thing of absolute beauty. Don’t get me wrong, they were amazing in previous chapters, as well. But now you can truly see how detailed and fluid they are. And since the porn aspect is one of the biggest ones in the series, so is this improvement one of the most impactful ones.

Another thing I like about this one is replayability. Every game so far has been replayable one way or another, but The Void Club: Chapter 21 is one of the better ones in that regard. The story is as thorough as it gets, and the scenes take some precise navigation to unlock. You can’t just wing it and get everything you want. And if I had to nitpick, there’s one instance where you get three choices, all of which are the same, so I guess that’s a bug. And there’s a pain-in-the-ass easter egg.
